B&D Boilers is a for-profit corporation that provides products and services to corporations, government agencies and other entities. The Company also represents various products, as a specified regional distributor and reseller.

The General Manager of a Company Profit Center (PC) is the team leader with overall responsibility to meet goals and objectives set by Senior Management. General Managers are responsible for generating and managing the product offering of the Company while steering it toward increased value by maximizing Net Income from Operations (NIO). The GM reports directly to the President and CEO.

This job is designed to be challenging and comprehensive. The following sets forth a summary job description as well as the Company’s preferred qualifications. These descriptions are not exclusive, as additional responsibilities/qualifications may be required or considered by the company.

General Requirements:

  • High regard for quality and efficiency.
  • Possesses and utilizes strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Physical ability (including vision) to perform required tasks. Able to work in confined spaces.

  • Six years of field experience(or equivalent education, certification or accreditation)(Exceptions may be approved by the hiring officer).

  • Establish relationships with prospective customers.
  • Maintain relationships with current customers.
  • Represent the Company in an ethical and professional manner.

Qualifications:

  • At least five years experience in a relevant management-level position or advanced training in relevant field and at least three years of experience in management-level position.
  • Experience with marketing and business development in the Industrial sector.
  • Ability to accurately quote commercial and industrial projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial management.
  • Extensive supervisory experience: hiring, training, conflict resolution skills, evaluation, disciplinary action.
  • Knowledge of the immediate market area.
  • Ability to deploy creativity in the management and growth of the PC.

Working Knowledge and/or experience with:

  • Pressure vessels, heat exchangers and boilers.
  • Repairing and installing industrial firetube and watertube boilers - scotch marine firetube boilers, and package watertube boilers of various manufacturers.
  • Boilermaking and Fitting.
  • Piping and mechanical systems including plant maintenance.
  • Written welding procedures.
  • Various types of welding equipment and welding rods.
  • Welding and qualifications.
  • Metal fabrication utilizing welding and burning equipment.
  • Safety Regulations.
  • Applicable laws: business licenses, permits, health regulations, labor laws, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Full P&L responsibility for PC.
  • Plan and execute projects from Purchase Order to Invoice.
  • Manage multiple personnel and projects simultaneously.
  • Supervise and evaluate.

    • Sales Personnel
  • Assist in Planning and Estimating.
  • Assist Sales with work load projections.
  • Set measurable objectives periodically for Commercial and Industrial managers.

    • Capital Budget
    • Cash Budget
    • PC Goals
    • Marketing Paln
    • Pro-forma Income Statements.
  • Ensure that PC operation complies with requirements of Company policy.
  • As appropriate, negotiate and approve contracts for supplementing Company labor, equipment or other resource.
  • Maintain security of Company assets.
  • Work with business development to promote the Company’s brand.
  • Write PC Report for newsletter.
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure compliance with Company policy.

Compensation: This position is comprised of salary and incentive percentage based on qualifications, experience and potential customer procurement.

Receptionist

1.0 General Description

  • B&D Boilers is a growing marine and industrial company based in Charleston, SC. It began in 1972 and currently has over 90 employees. It has satellite offices in Southeastern US and personnel internationally. The company is headed by its CEO/President and CFO/Vice President. We are currently looking to hire a receptionist to report to the Executive Assistant.

2.0 Location

  • B&D Corporate Headquarters - 3567 Meeting Street, North Charleston, South Carolina

3.0 Hours and Compensation

  • A normal workday for this position is 7AM to 4PM (Monday through Friday) with one hour for lunch. This is a salary position, which may call for working outside of these hours on an as-needed basis. The position is subject to the normal benefits of B&D employees, which include, but is not limited to Medical, Dental, Disability, 401 (k) and Profit Sharing.

4.0 Travel

  • It is not anticipated that this position will require travel, but from time to time, it may be necessary.

5.0 Purpose

  • The Receptionist's function at B&D Boilers is to properly portray our professional image either by phone or in person with our clients, customers, suppliers and employees. This position is important to our company and the fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities contribute to the overall success of the company.

6.0 Responsibilities

  • 6.1 Promptly and courteously answer the telephone, routing calls to the appropriate individual.
  • 6.2 Maintain the lobby
  • 6.3 Greet visitors to our office
  • 6.4 Facilitate the efficient flow of mail through the office
  • 6.5 Handle both incoming and outgoing mail
  • 6.6 Responsible for picking up mail from Post Office and depositing outgoing mail at Post Office
  • 6.7 Maintain office supplies; i.e. ordering, inventory, etc.
  • 6.8 Assist Accounting with matching of Purchase Orders to Invoices
  • 6.9 Account Receivables follow-up
  • 6.10 Update company listings

  • Due to the sensitive nature of certain tasks to be performed by this position, the person who accepts this position will be asked to sign and agree with a confidentiality agreement.

Industrial Supervisor

A Supervisor is appointed by the Industrial Manager with the approval of Management.

A Supervisor:

  • Promotes the policies and practices of safety and quality.
  • Possesses and utilizes strong communication skills.

  • Piping, refractory, and mechanical.
  • Boiler room auxiliary systems.
  • Written welding procedures.
  • Ox/fuel Operations (Burning, Brazing and Heating).
  • Various types of welding equipment and welding rods.
  • Welding in all positions. Required Tig and Stick tests in the 6G position.
  • SMAW (Stick) and GTAW (Tig) open-root pipe welding.
  • FCAW (Flux Core) GMAW (Mig).
  • Carbon and stainless pipe and tube fabrication.

It is common that a Supervisor will need to travel between work sites. Thus, a company vehicle may be assigned to the Supervisor. If (at the determination of the Company) it is necessary a Supervisor may be issued Company vehicle. This vehicle is not for personal use and should only be used during working hours, unless authorized by his or her Supervisor.

Maintenance Position

  • Maintain offices, common areas, break rooms, lobbies, and restrooms to standards.
  • Dusting, empting trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming.
  • Maintain tile floors and carpeting as necessary.

General duties as assigned:

  • Clean glass doors in lobby and windows.
  • Sweep front stoop.
  • Cleaning baseboards, counters.
  • Assist other departments as needed.

Maintenance Duties:

  • Perform repairs as necessary.
  • Coordinate with venders to make repairs as needed.
  • Coordinate with the necessary venders to maintain building to standards.
    • HVAC company.

    • Vending company.

Landscaping Duties:

  • Maintain front area landscaping.

  • Maintain shrubbery in front of building.
  • Maintain grass area behind the IC building.

Inside Sales Assistant

B&D Boilers is a growing industrial company with a diverse value proposition. We have a breadth of products and services in both the marine and industrial markets. We have a presence internationally and three primary offices located in the southeastern part of the US.

Sales and Marketing is the basis of our growth strategy and we are continually seeking talent to join our team. Currently we are accepting applications for a part-time position (20 hours) for an Inside Sales Assistant. This position will aid Inside Sales with qualifying prospects through research including dialogue, internet searches and other utilities. Additional duties will include assisting with marketing and mailing campaigns.

There is no experience required. A strong ability to communicate and creative thinking is critical.
